ProofCouncil은 저자-비평가(author-critic) 구조로 미해결 수학 문제에 도전하는 LLM 에이전트다. 에이전트가 자율적으로 10개 실제 수학 문제를 풀어야 하는 FirstProof 챌린지 2차에 참가해 6개 문제의 답안이 경미한 수정 수준에서 정답으로 판정받아 참가팀 중 최고 성적을 기록했다. 수학 연구자들에게서 수집한 30개 미해결 문제 평가에서도 사람 피드백을 받은 21개 답안 중 5개가 완전 정답, 2개가 최종 검증 대기 중인 유망 답안, 8개가 유용한 부분 진전으로 평가됐다. 에이전트 제작에 쓴 라이브러리를 오픈소스로 공개해, LLM이 실제 수학 연구의 미해결 문제에서 의미 있는 기여를 할 수 있음을 보여주는 사례다.
